Lent lasts for 40 days, from Ash Wednesday to Easter. The season draws us back to the Exodus story and the telling of the Israelites wandering through the desert for 40 years. It also reminds us of the 40 days Jesus confronted evil in the wilderness before he set out to publicly demonstrate the reign of God drawn near.
Lent is always a journey. Throughout our 40 days, we walk with Jesus through our own world’s wilderness trials toward Jerusalem. Our stoles draw upon such imagery so to invoke faithful contemplation.
