By Ms James is a black, woman-owned company.  This is Ms. James' story:  

"One of my fondest memories as a child is of my father buying me Black greeting cards. At the time, I thought the gesture was super corny, but on every major holiday without fail, my father would give me a greeting card with Black images gracing the cover and a warm message on the inside to let me know he cared.

These cards weren’t available at big-box retailers but sold at Black-owned bookstores throughout Austin, Texas that eventually closed as the years passed and economic downturns took their toll. I never forgot how these cards made me feel – Loved, Seen, and Understood.

After becoming a mother, I had a burning desire to create these same memories with my son, but Black greeting cards were hard to come by. As an artist, I decided it was time to fill that void and create a paper goods line. By Ms. James is more than just a handmade paper goods line, it's a reflection of cultural traditions possibly forgotten, conversations you want to remember, and memories you hope never fade."
